Most firms in Newfoundland have experience in real estate. Our firm has divided its real estate practice into two areas for better efficiency and better delivery of professional services. Our residential real estate department offers legal advice to mortgage lenders, residential developers and the individual consumer for the purchase and sale of homes and/or vacant land, for the mortgaging of property and and for refinances. This department is supervised primarily by one solicitor, namely J. Annette Bennett , with an experienced staff of para-professionals. Our corporate and commercial real estate practice is handled by several of our partners and associates. We have and continue to act for large real estate construction companies and developers. We have been involved in some of the major real estate projects in this Province and extensive projects outside of the Province. These extend from the construction of single standing commercial units to the construction of educational facilities and large office, hotel and shopping mall complexes, highways, overpasses, wharves and public works. On behalf of the owners, lenders and joint ventures we have also been involved in the preparation of the nature of the legal ownership, construction and short-term and long-term financing as well as the leasing of properties to substantial local, national and international businesses.
